The Story Grid

thestorygrid shawncoyneI’ve just bought ‘The Story Grid – what good editors know’ by Shawn Coyne and have started reading it.

I was reminded of a woman I met last year.

She told me she was a freelance writer  – and editor.

“Oooh!” I thought, “Maybe she could be The Editor of My Book.

Her name sounded familiar. I looked her up online and realised I already owned one of her books.

Synchronistic! This was starting to look good. I found the book and read some of it.

It was so … dry.

I thought: “She is not the editor of my book”.

Shawn Coyne works with Steven Pressfield.

Two of Steven Pressfield’s books are also on my book shelf:

‘The War of Art’ and ‘Turning Pro.’

These books are not ‘dry’. They are spectacular. They are inspiring. They are life-changing. You read them and then you re-read them, again and again.

That’s the kind of book I love to read.

That’s the kind of author I want to be.

That’s the kind of editor I want!

Until then, I’m reading both Shawn and Steven’s books, hoping that some of what they’ve got might rub off on me …
